A Research Interest: Passive Mining

A research interest rather than a product: thermosiphon-driven hydraulic excavation, where a temperature differential drives fluid circulation and the fluid does the work of moving material, without an engine in the loop. In a cold climate the temperature differential is free and continuous, which makes it a usable energy source rather than a design problem.

Material accumulates and you collect it as it accumulates, which means nobody has to handle explosives or go down into a mine to get it. I've built working demonstrations of the thermosiphon behaviour, and I'm starting from the basic premise of hydraulic mining as a first approval step.

It's on this site because it's an honest example of how I go at a problem: find the version where the dangerous part simply isn't in the design.
