A portion of the gate goes directly to the riders, so the more people who come, the more prize money is on the table — which is why the price is set low on purpose. The barrel racing runs in four divisions, each paying its own places, with 100% of entry fees going back out as prize money.
Ribs, chicken, brisket and pulled pork are cooked on site by teams off the ribfest circuit, with bands in the evening and rides and an inflatable village for the kids all weekend.
